Christian Green's Success Story

Just a quick summary of my life since my 'A' levels finished and unfortunately no longer needed the services of the dyslexia support group.

After my A levels I decided to take a year out before going to university. I scraped into a Agricultural University, called Harper Adams in Shropshire, more about that later. I started with Widowsons at Glenfield in the summer of 1995 to help in the warehouses. This was grate because it allowed me to get enough money behind me to learn to drive and pay for the first year of my university course.

I started at Harper Adams in the September of 1996, the best decision I have ever made. Going to Harper Adams was the catalyst for the next 8 years and it has been a incredible roller-coaster of a ride. I can't stress enough to the people who read this how important it is to take as many opportunities a s possible. The course I chose following my A levels was a HND in Agriculture with land and Farm Management. This was a three year course with 12 months on a industrial placement. My placement took me to the Heart of Scotland, to a large Estate with royal connections. After my three years of work I graduated with a Merit in the HND.

Being the person that I am this was not enough for me, I had gained enough credits to top up to a degree, so I stopped at Harper Adams for a further two years. I gained a 2:2 in an Hons degree called Rural Enterprise and land Management. The benefit of this was it allowed me to undertake a career as a Chartered Surveyor.

After graduating from Harper Adams in 2001. I started work for a firm of Rural Chartered Surveyors called Bagshaws, where I enrolled on the to Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors training programme. After 24 months I qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and could put after my name the following Credits BSc (Hons) MRICS. I spent a further 12 Months with Bagshaws , until I took a new position with J.C. Bamford Excavators as the Property Manger for the Group.

I am responsible for the entire portfolio of residential properties, were I look after the day to day management but also project manage the renovation and redevelopment of the redundant properties within that portfolio. I am now considering do a MSc/PhD in a related to subject to further progress my career.
